Our Story
Once upon a time, circa 1993, there was a young lad that frequented a pub. He played darts and spades and reminisced with high school buddies and coaches about the glory days of baseball. He was down on his luck and feeling a little blue. One evening a blued-eyed girl, who was also a little down, walked into this same little pub with some friends. She caught the eye of the boy and he caught hers. Glances were exchanged and pleasantries made. Little did they know that that evening, in that Red Mule Pub, would be the beginning of a beautiful and long lasting relationship. The girl began to love the pub just as the boy did. They cultivated friendships and honed their dart and card playing skills. Eventually they were married and started a family. Even after they had 3 little boys, it wasn’t rare to see the little tikes showing off their base running skills to the owners of that great establishment.
However, one day the little family moved away from Brooksville, FL. They missed their pub. They missed those Rueben sandwiches. Aww, those Rueben sandwiches, so delicious! Time and again they spoke of their beloved pub to their new friends in their new town. So much so that their new friends encouraged them to open their own pub. No, they were too busy raising their boys and running an insurance agency. It would just stay a memory. Then one year the family’s favorite college team went to the national championship game. Wait hold on, we’re talking about Alabama, they went MANY years, but the year it was held in Tampa, Florida. Yes, the year the national championship game was in Tampa, the family traveled with several of their close friends to the game. Along the way, they stopped off in Brooksville to share the magic of the Red Mule Pub with them. Once they tasted the wonderful sandwiches and witnessed the inviting hospitality, the friends said in an instant, “You MUST open a pub in centre! And so here we are today bringing a little of central Florida to northeast Alabama, but focusing on local highlights. It’s our hope that a lifetime of memories is cultivated for our patrons. Cheers!
